Add Years to Your Lifespan With 72 Hours
Do this to lead your family longer, and be healthier for life.
What if an occasional exchange of 3 days of mild discomfort, added years to your life AND remain in good health longer?
Would you take that trade?
This past week some friends and I took on a 72-hour fast.
For 3 days we didn’t eat a single calorie.
I have done this a few times now and each has gotten easier.
The first time I tried I cracked. The second I made it but barely.
Each time I improved.
This go around it was surprisingly simple.
It definitely helped I had a some guys in The Foundry doing it with me and supporting each other (and you get a pink baby name in the chat if you fail haha).
Most men don’t make it past the first day.
But if your goal is to build a strong family, you’re already different to most guys and can definitely do a 72 hour fast.
Here’s why you should, and how to make it so easy you’ll get it on your first try.
Increased lifespan?
Why starve yourself? You may ask.
The benefits are innumerable.
Fasting is a great way to reset your system, and improve mental toughness. Just 1 day can have hinge benefits, but 3 is a different level.
On day 1 you’re basically just burning yesterday’s food.
On day 2 your body begins to switch over to ketogenic energy burning - meaning relying on fat stores instead of sugars for energy.
By day 3 your body is in full clean out mode called ‘autophagy’, basically recycling old and damaged cells for energy.
While in this clean out mode, only reachable by 48+ hours, you’re:
Potentially destroying cancer cells
Lowering inflammation & oxidative (carcinogenic) stress
Improving insulin sensitivity (which can eradicate type 2 diabetes)
Burning through visceral fat around your organs (which may be holding onto toxins)
Increased lifespan. The combo of the above can actually reduce your biological age, and cause you to live longer, meaning you’re there more for your family and to build your legacy.
But chief among them is improving mental toughness and resilience.
Proving you’re the kind of man your family needs.
It may sound paranoid, but if things ever got rough - could you forgo food to make sure your children ate?
Building this kind of resilience is key in becoming a strong leader for your family & setting a good example for your children.
Its the same reason why every family should keep a well stocked pantry - resilience = sovereignty.
In a world that has openly turned anti-family, it’s on you to build strength for them, and create the future they deserve.
Evidence suggests that regular 72 hour fasts can add YEARS onto your lifespan. YEARS.
So the question then becomes, how can you not do one?
Ok on to how to do this, and my experience.
The Kit
To fast this long you need a few things, plus some bonuses.
You need to have your last meal be a clean one - ideally including some lean meat. I personally like to have dinner be my last meal, but my friend Trent did lunch - whichever meal is your last will be your first at the end of the fast so keep this in mind.
Here’s my basic kit:
Pink salt. Put a bit in water and chug it. This will keep your electrolytes up and energy more consistent. Avoid sweet ‘sugar free’ electrolyte powers, they will trigger insulin release and actually do more harm (as tehre’s nothing for the insulin to do)
Black coffee/tea. This will give you something to taste, has no calories and can give you some ‘fake energy’. Plus, odds are you’re caffeine addicted, you don’t want to be coming down from that as well.
Cinnamon powder (secret weapon). Add this to your coffee/tea. It boosts your fat burning (slightly) and makes it feel like you’re consuming something, when you are not. Just a tiny bit in a coffee makes a world of difference.
Carbonated Water. A bit of this will help you curb stomp hunger pangs and give you additional taste. Combined with cinnamon? Killer combo.
Something to do. If you’re always thinking about food and eating? ngmi. you need something productive. Hobby, work, side business, play with kids etc. Heck even a video game or movie if you’re so inclined.
Your first meal planned. Don’t go and get some fast food or take out. You want something lean and healthy. We had chicken to break my fast. Which honestly wasn’t the best option. You can do eggs and greek yoghurt, or even broth. Whatever it is, clean and lean is the goal.
Support Group. Don’t rely on your wife, she probably hasn’t done a 72 hour fast (and won’t lol), and is likely concerned for you and wanting to feed you. My wife’s supportive of all I do but when I was battling, she was the one suggesting I break it early ‘for my health’ lol. You need men in your corner. Find them.
Btw if you need a support group I’m opening up some spots in The Foundry soon. It’s a bit premature yet, but if you’re interested shoot me an email or DM. We’ll be running another fast soon, plus we do a lot more to support you in building a lasting family legacy.
Using the above will make the fast so easy it feels like cheating, and won’t compromise all the benefits of the process. Increasing your lifespan for the sake of your kids was never so easy.
My experience
Day 1
On day 1 I wound up having to cook breakfast due to my wife having a headache.
It wasn’t a big deal - Day 1 is easy. Kept up the grind on work stuff. I had a headache too but probably not as bad as my wife. Bit of salt in water kept me going.
Son had a rough night and wife needed a break so hung out with him for a couple of hours before helping get him to sleep.
Went to bed kind of hungry but nothing terribly intense.
Day 2
I thought Day 2 would be the hardest. But I woke up strong..and had to cook breakfast again haha.
This set my stomach rumbling but I held strong, got everybody fed and my wife well rested. Coffee+cinnamon and sparkling water for ‘lunch/dinner’ set me right.
I made it most of the day no problem, but at dinner time, my son decided I should be the one feeding him, and this lead to the tough part.
I began to feel nauseated, and the feeling persisted. Even the idea of having some pink salt made my stomach turn.
So I wound up just going to bed early around 9.
Day 3
On day 3 I actually felt a little sore. I had a rough nights sleep and woke up a few times. But surprisingly I woke up full of energy.
I went for a 5am powerwalk and got a load of programming work done for the backend of The Foundry, as well as as a quick video to help out one of the guys building a web page. By that point I had hit another low and my legs ached a bit.
Coffee and pink salt were 100% off the table, I just couldn’t. So a black tea and a shower set me straight before we set off for a trip to the city.
I had to go grocery shopping (very tough to make sound decisions) and to the hardware store with the boys while my wife took my daughter and her friend to a dance lesson. But I was full of energy the whole time (with minor leg aches)
When we got home I shot a video, and began working outside doing some tree cloning and planting more in our shelter belt.
This drained me surprisingly fast, and I was glad to finally break my fast at 4:30pm (yes, we eat dinner that early), though I ate very, very slowly haha.
All-in-all it was the easiest fast I’ve ever done, especially with the toolkit I listed above. Any time I struggled, my friends in The Foundry were there to back me up.
Results
I did not do this for weight loss.
But the difference in my weight was 3.1kg start to finish. I normally weigh nude but the kids were up early on the first weigh in and I just wanted to get it done. So the weights are 6am, clothed, with a jumper on, after 500ml of water.
I am 6ft tall and started out at 95kg and a day after the fast I was 91.9kg.
That is definitely not all fat, though some surely is. It’s also water, glycogen, food etc. But it does show how much we just carry around with us at all times.
Would I do it again?
I’m writing this on the morning after the fast and I feel like a million bucks
So, yes. The benefits are immense and it gets easier every time.
If not eating for 3 days every now and then will make me healthier and live longer for my legacy, I’m all about it.
If you are too and want a support network that will help you do this regularly as well as support you in all your other goals to build a lasting legacy, then you’ll fit right into The Foundry.
We’re opening some new spots soon, but if you want first claim then just reach out to find if you’re the right fit.
